Things change every moment. Especially I have noticed often this time of the year, when foliage of the trees gets visible. However, changing for better or for worse is all relative and depends on our egoistic self-centered perspective.
I was reminded this perspective and relativity issues by an interesting book. It is called “On The Equality of All Things – Lessons on Physics and Philosophy” (2026) by Carlo Rovelli. Rovelli is a renowned theoretical physicist and was listed as one of most influential thinkers by a few magazines such as Foreign Policy and Prospect.
This book reveals me how little I know about our life and the universe and how much I misunderstood the world, universe, and ourselves. It was shocking to me that I come to learn, at this late stage of my life, about a holistic way of understanding the universe and ourselves. This book makes me feel to understand the connection of metaphysical world of philosophy with the physics that dictates our universe.
Rovelli explains about our misunderstanding of certainty, reality, time, space, and existence. This book is a small book of 150 plus pages, but it provides me with a lot to chances to think about ourselves and the things around us. It surely blew me up and opened up my mind.
Changes for better seem not to matter in physics term. But is it true? I still want to make myself happy and challenging for the better. as long I live in “Here and Now.”
